Klaus Grohe is the visionary German entrepreneur and former executive who founded AXOR in 1993, establishing it as the luxury designer brand of the Hansgrohe Group. Born in 1937, he is the youngest son of Hans Grohe, the pioneer who started the family plumbing business in 1901. Klaus joined Hansgrohe in 1968 and served as its CEO from 1977 to 2008, later presiding over the Supervisory Board until 2015.
Under his leadership, Hansgrohe shifted from a regional manufacturer into a global market force. Recognizing a growing demand for personalized bathroom experiences, Klaus conceived AXOR to blend avant-garde design with German engineering. He boldly pioneered collaborations with elite global designers like Philippe Starck, fundamentally transforming the bathroom from a utilitarian space into a luxury living area. Renowned for his focus on green innovation long before it became an industry standard, Klaus Grohe permanently reshaped the modern plumbing landscape.

Hans Grohe (May 14, 1871 – September 8, 1955) was a visionary German industrialist, innovator, and craftsman whose pioneering spirit radically reshaped global home sanitation. At the turn of the 20th century, he established a modest metal-spinning workshop in the Black Forest region of Germany. Through a combination of accurate social foresight and technical ingenuity, he transformed it into a world-leading sanitaryware empire.
By inventing and popularizing products like the affordable hand shower and the adjustable shower rail, Grohe transitioned personal hygiene from an elite, laborious luxury into an accessible daily ritual for the masses. His life work laid the mechanical and commercial foundation for both Hansgrohe SE and its luxury design brand, AXOR.
