Polo Hotels Group has launched Chapter Hotels & Resorts, an upscale boutique brand targeting younger, experience-led travellers seeking design, local culture and a stronger sense of place.
Backed by more than three decades of hospitality experience in Northeast India, the brand takes a destination-first approach, with design, food, music and experiences shaped around each location.
Rather than a standardised luxury model, Chapter aims to create hotels that reflect the character of their surroundings.
Two Chapters in Tripura & Shillong
The brand debuts with Chapter Lakeside, Tripura, a 17-key property on Rudrasagar Lake, around 90 minutes from Agartala airport. The resort features a lake-view pool, poolside bar, all-day dining and boat transfers, with views of the Neermahal Palace.
“We called it ‘Chapter’ because every hotel opens a new part of the destination for the guest. Same brand energy, different local story. The plan is to build more soon — each with its own voice,” says Deval Tibrewalla, WTD & CEO, Hotel Polo Towers Limited.
Its culinary offering draws on Kokborok and Mui Borok traditions, incorporating regional ingredients including river fish, bamboo shoots, herbs and banana flowers.
The second property, Chapter Resort Upper Shillong, is a 37-key resort in Meghalaya set amid paddy fields and is scheduled to open later this year. Built around a pool, the property continues the brand’s focus on landscape-led leisure stays.
Food and beverage will also be central to the brand, with its Cassette Kitchen & Bar concept drawing on local produce and flavours while serving as a social hub within each property.

Building a Regional Portfolio
The Chapter pipeline includes destinations across West Bengal, Nagaland and other parts of the Northeast, spanning heritage properties, hill destinations and cultural towns.
The brand will follow an owned, managed and retrofit model, while maintaining a consistent focus on distinctive design, upscale amenities, strong food and beverage offerings and locally rooted experiences.
For Polo Hotels Group, Chapter represents a move into a younger, more design-conscious segment while strengthening its long-standing commitment to developing hospitality across the Northeast.
