Taj Bush Lodge Opens in Greater Kruger, Strengthening IHCL’s Safari Hospitality Presence
IHCL expands Taj’s luxury wilderness portfolio with its first Safari Lodge in Greater Kruger in South Africa.

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) announces the opening of Taj Bush Lodge, Greater Kruger South Africa, marking Taj’s debut in the iconic Greater Kruger region and the first in a planned portfolio of three luxury wilderness lodges in South Africa.
Speaking on the launch, Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & CEO, IHCL, said, “As Taj steps into Greater Kruger with the first of three luxury wilderness lodges, it brings with it a legacy of over a century of offering exceptional experiences deeply rooted in the destination. The opening of Taj Bush Lodge, Greater Kruger strengthens the brand’s presence in the country, extending the South African itinerary by combining the panoramic landscapes of Cape Town with the wildlife of Kruger National Park.”
Commenting on the expansion, Mark Wernich, Cluster General Manager Operations South Africa & General Manager, Taj Cape Town, said, “Our entry into Kruger National Park invites travellers to experience Taj’s world-class hospitality seamlessly integrated with a proven eco-tourism model. This will be complemented by two additional Taj lodges in the park, set to open in the coming months.”
The opening reinforces IHCL’s international growth strategy while strengthening Taj’s positioning in experiential luxury hospitality.

Nestled within the renowned Big Five Balule Nature Reserve, the exclusive six-key Taj Bush Lodge has been thoughtfully designed to blend seamlessly with its natural surroundings. Drawing inspiration from the textures, materials, and heritage of the region, the lodge features thatched roofs, earthy palettes, and warm wooden accents that create an authentic yet refined safari experience.
Guests can savour home-style culinary experiences that combine global influences with local South African flavours, crafted using fresh seasonal ingredients. The lodge also features Taj’s signature J Wellness Circle, offering holistic therapies and wellness rituals in a tranquil wilderness setting.
