Tathastu Resorts has announced the launch of Tathastu Satpura, its newest wilderness retreat located in Satpura Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh. With this development, the hospitality group expands its footprint across India’s leading wildlife destinations, marking its fifth property after Pench, Kanha, Tadoba and Bandhavgarh. The move comes amid rising demand for experiential and nature-led travel, with wildlife tourism in India witnessing an estimated growth of over 20–25% in recent years.

The newly launched retreat offers a total of 39 accommodations, including 34 villa rooms and 5 exclusive pool suites, designed to deliver a low-density, immersive forest experience. The architecture and layout emphasise space, privacy and a strong connection to the surrounding landscape, with private verandas and forest-facing views forming a key part of the guest experience. A distinctive feature across all units is the inclusion of dual washroom facilities, aimed at enhancing convenience for guests, particularly during early morning safari schedules.

Positioning: Boutique Wilderness with Comfort

Hidden quietly in the heart of Madhya Pradesh lies a destination that offers something far more peaceful, raw and authentic – Satpura. Often overlooked, this forest region is a paradise for nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts and travellers seeking calm, away from crowded tourist circuits. At its core is Satpura Tiger Reserve, one of India’s most underrated yet rewarding wildlife destinations, known for its rich biodiversity and remarkably tranquil safari experience where visitors can truly listen to the forest.

Anil Agarwala, Managing Director, Tathastu Resorts, commented, “With the launch of Tathastu Satpura, we aim to create a stay that complements the spirit of this landscape, immersive, intimate and deeply connected to the wilderness.”

The resort’s food and beverage offering is anchored by ‘Gilhari’, a multi-cuisine restaurant inspired by the Indian Giant Squirrel, the official mascot of Satpura Tiger Reserve. The dining experience combines Indian and international flavours within a nature-inspired setting, complemented by a bar designed with earthy tones and materials that reflect the surrounding forest environment.

Core Experience: Wildlife and Beyond

Wildlife exploration remains central to the Satpura experience, with the reserve known for sightings of species such as tigers, leopards, sloth bears, sambar deer and diverse birdlife. Its relatively undisturbed terrain allows for a more serene and immersive safari experience compared to more crowded parks. Beyond safaris, the resort offers a range of curated activities including jungle walks, riverside sundowners, pottery sessions, reflexology trails and indoor recreation options. Guests also have access to a temperature-controlled indoor swimming pool and entertainment facilities such as games and karaoke.

In line with its social responsibility initiatives, the resort employs visually impaired therapists who provide professional spa treatments, reflecting the brand’s commitment to inclusive employment practices. With the addition of Satpura, Tathastu Resorts strengthens its presence across five of India’s most prominent tiger landscapes, reinforcing its positioning in the niche wildlife hospitality segment.

The launch of Tathastu Satpura highlights the ongoing shift in traveller preferences towards immersive, experience-driven holidays that combine adventure, comfort and deeper engagement with natural ecosystems.

As Satpura continues to emerge as a preferred destination for discerning wildlife travellers, the new retreat is well positioned to capitalise on this growing trend.
