Wadi Safar’s First Hotel to Bring 60 Oberoi Villas, 10 Residences to Saudi Arabia
Oberoi Hotels & Resorts offers a first look at its upcoming Saudi Arabian retreat, bringing 60 private villas, destination-led dining and wellness to a dramatic escarpment outside Riyadh.

Oberoi Hotels & Resorts has unveiled The Oberoi Sukoonvilas, Wadi Safar, an intimate luxury resort scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2027. The property is set to become the first hotel to open in Wadi Safar, one of Saudi Arabia’s emerging luxury destinations.
Located approximately 30 minutes from Riyadh and close to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of At-Turaif in Diriyah, Wadi Safar brings together heritage, culture, nature and wellbeing within a landscape defined by desert valleys and dramatic escarpments.
Set across more than 37 acres atop a 70-metre escarpment, The Oberoi Sukoonvilas will comprise 60 standalone villas and 10 branded residences, positioning privacy and a strong connection to the landscape at the centre of the experience.
Najdi Heritage, Contemporary Expression
The resort draws inspiration from traditional Najdi architecture, interpreted through a contemporary luxury lens. Designed by international architecture firm Aedas, with interiors by Blink, the property will feature shaded courtyards, water bodies, landscaped spaces and fluid transitions between indoor and outdoor environments.
The design is intended to establish a strong sense of place while reflecting Oberoi’s approach to understated luxury and highly personalised hospitality.
The culinary programme will bring together international concepts and distinct personalities. Yatra, led by Michelin-starred chef Rohit Ghai, will focus on contemporary Indian cuisine, while Linnet, led by pastry chef Lily Vanilli, will introduce an artisanal pastry and café concept. Beyla will offer international cuisine, alongside relaxed poolside dining overlooking the Wadi Safar escarpment.
Wellbeing will form a significant part of the resort experience through ASMI by Oberoi, the brand’s wellness programme. The offering will include signature wellness journeys, hammams, indoor wellness pools and fitness facilities.
A 65-metre infinity pool overlooking Wadi Safar will serve as one of the resort’s defining features, connecting its wellness proposition directly with the surrounding landscape.

Saudi Arabia’s Expanding Luxury Landscape
Beyond its architecture and hospitality offering, The Oberoi Sukoonvilas is being conceived around a cultural dialogue between Saudi Arabia and India. Elements of design, cuisine and service will draw connections between the two traditions while remaining grounded in the character of Wadi Safar.
Jerry Inzerillo, Group CEO, Diriyah Company, described the project as an important milestone for Wadi Safar, noting its role as the destination’s first hotel and Oberoi’s emphasis on craftsmanship, hospitality and sense of place.
Vikram Oberoi, CEO of Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, said the resort has been conceived as a sanctuary of understated luxury, with architecture, landscape and hospitality designed to create a deeper connection with the destination.
General Manager Jeremy Canivet added that the guest experience will extend from Najdi-inspired private villas and landscaped gardens to destination dining and restorative wellness experiences.
Wadi Safar sits close to Diriyah, birthplace of the First Saudi State, and is being developed as a destination spanning heritage, sport, wellbeing, nature and luxury hospitality.
