Hilton has signed DoubleTree by Hilton Rajkot, marking the hospitality group’s entry into the city and the debut of its DoubleTree brand in Rajkot. Developed in partnership with Sanjayraj and Co., the hotel is scheduled to open in early 2030.

The signing is part of Hilton’s strategy to expand in high-growth commercial markets in India, with Rajkot’s engineering, manufacturing and trade sectors driving demand for business travel, meetings and events, weddings and social gatherings.

Hilton expands Gujarat footprint

The property will become Hilton’s fourth hotel in Gujarat, joining DoubleTree by Hilton Ahmedabad, Hilton Garden Inn Surat City Centre and Hampton by Hilton Vadodara Alkapuri.

Hilton sees Rajkot, Gujarat’s fourth-largest city, as a high-potential hospitality market supported by continued commercial and industrial development.

Clarence Tan, Senior Vice President, Development, Asia Pacific, Hilton, said the company remains focused on markets with strong long-term fundamentals as it expands in India. “DoubleTree by Hilton is a highly versatile full-service brand, making it well suited to commercial centres like Rajkot where demand continues to evolve,” he said.

Zubin Saxena, Senior Vice President and Regional Head, South Asia, Hilton, said the company is seeking to build a balanced network spanning established gateway cities and high-potential regional markets. “The signing of DoubleTree by Hilton Rajkot strengthens our presence in Gujarat and reflects the increasing relevance of internationally branded, full-service hotels in emerging commercial centres,” Saxena said.

Swaraj Rajguru, Partner, Sanjayraj and Co., said Rajkot’s economic expansion has increased the need for hospitality infrastructure catering to both business and leisure travellers. He added that the city’s strong weddings and celebrations market is also generating demand for premium event spaces.

Rajkot’s commercial growth

Rajkot’s position as a manufacturing, engineering and trading hub is expected to underpin demand for branded full-service accommodation.

The signing comes as Hilton accelerates its expansion across India. The hospitality company currently has more than 100 operational and pipeline hotels in the country. Hilton has set a long-term ambition of operating 400 hotels in India, with expansion across both established destinations and emerging business and tourism markets.

The Rajkot development adds to that pipeline while extending the DoubleTree brand into another regional commercial centre.
