IHCL Announces Signing of 250-Key Taj Hotel in Guwahati

Taj is set to debut in Guwahati with a new 250-key hotel by IHCL.

Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced the signing of a new Taj Hotel property in Guwahati, marking the debut of the iconic luxury brand in the capital city of Assam.

 

The agreement was formalised in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, underscoring the significance of the development for the state’s hospitality and tourism sectors.

 

The project involves the development of a 250-key Taj hotel through a phased expansion and repositioning strategy. This will include: comprehensive renovation of the existing 150 keys; and addition of 100 new keys to expand the property’s inventory.

 

The combined redevelopment and expansion will transform the hotel into a flagship luxury hospitality destination in Guwahati.

Location and Guest Experience

Located in the heart of Guwahati, the upcoming Taj hotel will be set within an expanded land parcel spanning over nine acres. Designed as an urban retreat, the property will offer a hospitality experience inspired by the cultural spirit and heritage of Assam.

 

The hotel is expected to cater to both business and leisure travellers, strengthening Guwahati’s appeal as a regional hub.

 

With the addition of this property, IHCL’s portfolio in Guwahati will expand to five hotels, including three currently under development, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to the region’s growing hospitality market.
