Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a 125-key Gateway hotel in Siliguri, West Bengal. The greenfield project marks another addition to IHCL’s portfolio as the company continues to expand across emerging growth markets in India.

Strategically positioned as a gateway to North Bengal, Northeast India and Bhutan, Siliguri is seeing growing demand from both business and leisure travellers, supported by its commercial significance and regional connectivity.

Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said Siliguri’s strategic location and expanding economic activity continue to strengthen hospitality demand across segments.

She added that Gateway Siliguri aligns with IHCL’s strategy of building its presence in emerging growth centres across the country. IHCL is partnering with Pritam Agarwal and Amit Bhansali for the development.

A strategic growth market

The hotel will feature 125 rooms and suites, alongside an all-day dining restaurant, speciality restaurant and bar. Leisure and wellness facilities will include a swimming pool, gym and spa. The property will also target the meetings, events and social celebrations segment with a banquet hall spanning more than 10,000 sq. ft., supported by meeting rooms and pre-function spaces.

Agarwal and Bhansali said the partnership aims to address the growing demand for a full-service hospitality offering in Siliguri.

Beyond its role as an important commercial centre, Siliguri serves as a key access point to destinations across the eastern Himalayas. Its proximity to Darjeeling, tea-growing regions and Bhutan, along with attractions such as the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway and Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary, supports a mix of corporate, leisure and transit travel.

The Gateway signing positions IHCL to tap into this expanding demand as Siliguri’s importance within the region’s business and tourism ecosystem continues to grow.
