City of Dreams Sri Lanka has partnered with Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts and Walkers Tours to support the launch of direct scheduled passenger flights between Ahmedabad and Colombo operated by FitsAir. The collaboration aims to strengthen connectivity between India and Sri Lanka while enhancing travel access to South Asia’s first fully integrated resort destination.
FitsAir, Sri Lanka’s first private international airline, will operate the service, offering travellers convenient connections and a comfortable travel experience between the two cities.
The new Ahmedabad–Colombo route will operate three times a week and is designed to cater to travellers from Gujarat—one of Sri Lanka’s key and rapidly expanding source markets in India.
Gujarat has seen steady growth in outbound international travel, supported by strong cultural ties with Sri Lanka and increasing interest in leisure tourism to the island. The state’s well-developed travel trade network and strong demand for international leisure experiences make it a significant market for Sri Lanka’s tourism sector.
The enhanced air connectivity is expected to strengthen travel flows between the two regions while positioning Colombo as an attractive luxury getaway for Indian travellers.
City of Dreams Anchors Colombo’s Tourism Vision
Located in the heart of Colombo, City of Dreams Sri Lanka forms part of a broader initiative to position the city as a regional hub for entertainment, leisure, and lifestyle tourism. The development aims to encourage travellers to explore Colombo as a destination in its own right.
Visitors can stay at Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams or choose from other properties within the Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts portfolio in Colombo, including Cinnamon Grand, Cinnamon Lakeside, and Cinnamon Red. Together, these hotels offer a range of luxury, upscale, and contemporary accommodation options for travellers discovering the city.
Kamal Munasinghe, Senior Vice President – Colombo Hotels, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts and General Manager, Cinnamon Life at City of Dreams, said that India remains a critical market for the group’s tourism strategy. “Gujarat, in particular, has shown growing interest in Colombo as a leisure destination. The introduction of dedicated flights provides travellers with a seamless gateway to experience the entertainment, hospitality, and lifestyle offerings of City of Dreams Sri Lanka while exploring curated Cinnamon holiday experiences across the island.”
FitsAir Expands Indian Network
According to Ammar Kassim, Director, FitsAir, Ahmedabad represents an important addition to the airline’s expanding international network. “The overnight departure from Colombo allows travellers to arrive in Ahmedabad early in the morning, giving them a full day ahead while also enabling convenient onward connections through Colombo to other international destinations served by the airline.”
Alongside the launch of the direct flights, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts has introduced specially curated holiday packages for Indian travellers. These packages combine the City of Dreams Sri Lanka experience with multi-destination itineraries across the island.
The itineraries include cultural experiences in Kandy as well as beach stays at Cinnamon resorts, offering visitors an opportunity to explore Sri Lanka’s diverse attractions through a seamless and integrated travel experience.
