As Indian outbound travel continues to diversify beyond traditional long-haul destinations, Morocco is steadily strengthening its position in the market, backed by rising visitor numbers and growing trade engagement.

The Moroccan National Tourism Office’s (MNTO) latest four-city ‘Kingdom of Light Showcase’ roadshow reflected the destination’s sustained push to deepen its presence within the Indian travel ecosystem.

Organised across Delhi, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Chennai, the initiative brought together 14 Moroccan tourism stakeholders and over 300 members of the Indian travel trade. Through focused networking and destination presentations, MNTO sought to strengthen industry partnerships and further position Morocco as an aspirational leisure destination for Indian travellers seeking immersive and experience-led holidays.

Indian Arrivals to Morocco Continue

MNTO’s intensified engagement with the Indian market comes against the backdrop of a sharp rise in Indian visitor numbers. Since 2019, Indian arrivals to Morocco have grown by 224 per cent, with 2025 recording 53,697 Indian visitors — a 31 per cent year-on-year increase.

The tourism board believes the growth reflects a broader shift in Indian outbound preferences, with travellers increasingly seeking destinations that combine culture, luxury, authenticity and experiential appeal.

Industry stakeholders also point to repeat visitation and strong word-of-mouth advocacy as emerging indicators of Morocco’s growing resonance among Indian holidaymakers.

Adding further momentum is Morocco’s ongoing infrastructure development ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which the country will co-host, strengthening its readiness to welcome higher volumes of international travellers, including from India.

Strengthening Engagement Across India

Far more than a destination presentation, the showcase served as a strategic outreach initiative aimed at equipping Indian travel advisors with deeper destination knowledge, curated leisure experiences and stronger business connections to drive conversions.

From luxury riads and cultural circuits to experiential travel and premium leisure offerings, Morocco used the platform to highlight the breadth of experiences increasingly resonating with Indian travellers seeking immersive and distinctive international holidays.

The Delhi leg of the roadshow was attended by His Excellency Mohamed Maliki, Ambassador of His Majesty the King of Morocco to India, who emphasised the growing tourism ties between the two countries. “The roadshow is a reflection of the deep and enduring friendship between Morocco and India. Tourism is one of the most powerful expressions of that friendship, and we are committed to ensuring that the Indian travel trade has the knowledge and inspiration to bring more Indian travellers to our Kingdom,” he said.

India Emerges as a Growth Market

For MNTO, India is no longer an emerging opportunity but a priority market with long-term growth potential. The tourism board’s focus is now shifting from awareness-building to sustained trade partnerships and conversion-driven engagement.

Commenting on the roadshow, Jamal Kilito, Country Manager – India, MNTO, said: “India is one of Morocco’s fastest-growing and most strategically important source markets, and the enthusiasm we have witnessed from the travel trade across all four cities has been truly encouraging. Our focus goes beyond awareness as we are building lasting partnerships that drive real conversion, and this roadshow is central to that mission.”

With a target of attracting 75,000 Indian visitors by 2026, MNTO’s latest India initiative signals a clear and sustained commitment to expanding Morocco’s footprint in the country. As trade engagement deepens and traveller interest continues to rise, Morocco is steadily positioning itself as one of the most aspirational long-haul leisure destinations for the Indian market.
