SUJÁN is taking its conservation-led hospitality model beyond India with the acquisition of Chiawa Camp and Old Mondoro from Chiawa Safaris, marking the company’s first significant international expansion.

The move establishes SUJÁN in Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park, one of Africa’s significant wilderness and wildlife destinations, and signals the beginning of a broader international growth strategy.

Over the next four years, the company plans to more than double its portfolio, pursuing selective expansion centred on conservation, responsible hospitality and long-term stewardship.

Located along the banks of the Zambezi River, Chiawa Camp and Old Mondoro have built a reputation around intimate safari experiences and a strong connection to the Lower Zambezi ecosystem. Chiawa Safaris has operated in the region for more than three decades, with conservation and responsible tourism forming an important part of its operating philosophy.

Conservation as a Growth Strategy

Rather than treating the move solely as a geographic expansion, SUJÁN is positioning Africa as an extension of the model it has developed in India—where hospitality operates alongside conservation and community initiatives.

“This is far more than a geographic expansion for SUJÁN. It is a natural extension of what we have believed and practised for more than 25 years,” said Jaisal Singh, Founder and Chairman, SUJÁN. He added that the company sees responsible tourism as a partner in conservation, with hospitality contributing to the protection of natural environments and supporting communities around them.

Anjali Singh, Co-Founder of SUJÁN and Executive Chairperson of ANAND Group, described the acquisition as the coming together of two family-founded organisations with a shared approach to stewardship and conservation.

Building a Global Portfolio

For SUJÁN, the acquisition brings two established African safari properties into a portfolio developed over more than 25 years around wilderness experiences, habitat conservation and engagement with neighbouring communities.

The acquisition represents a significant step in its ambition to build a globally recognised collection of conservation-led camps and lodges.

As the company looks to more than double its portfolio over the next four years, Chiawa Camp and Old Mondoro provide its first major foothold outside India and extend an Indian-born luxury wilderness brand into one of Africa’s established safari landscapes.
