The Oterra Hotel, Bengaluru, has achieved a significant milestone in environmental performance by being awarded the Platinum Rating, the highest level of certification, under the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Green Existing Buildings category. For the period 2025–2026, The Oterra has been recognised as the highest-rated green existing building in India within this category.
This prestigious certification, conferred by the CII–Indian Green Building Council, positions The Oterra as a leading example of future-ready and sustainable hospitality in India. The IGBC Platinum rating is awarded following a comprehensive and rigorous evaluation of a building’s performance across key sustainability parameters, including energy efficiency, water stewardship, waste management, eco-friendly mobility practices, and operational innovation, while maintaining superior indoor environmental quality and occupant well-being.
Additional National Recognitions
In addition to the Platinum certification, The Oterra’s long-standing commitment to sustainable luxury has been further acknowledged through two national-level awards:
- IGBC Performance Challenge Award for Green Buildings, recognising measurable achievements in resource conservation and operational efficiency.
- Excellence Award, honouring the hotel’s overall leadership and best practices in sustainable hospitality.
These achievements are the outcome of sustained strategic planning and the systematic implementation of advanced Net Zero initiatives over several years. In collaboration with Earthonomic Engineers, The Oterra has successfully integrated responsible environmental practices with premium guest experiences, reinforcing the principle that luxury hospitality and environmental responsibility can coexist.
Industry Leadership and Outlook
Commenting on the achievement, Srinivas Adiga, General Manager, The Oterra Hotel, stated: “This recognition reflects the collective commitment and consistent efforts of our teams, who operate with a strong sense of responsibility toward the environment. Each initiative undertaken has contributed to this milestone. We remain focused on advancing sustainable hospitality practices and delivering experiences that create a positive and lasting impact.”
As India advances toward increasingly stringent sustainability and environmental performance standards, The Oterra’s achievement serves as a reference model for the hospitality sector. The hotel’s success is rooted in a strategic vision that prioritizes the balance between world-class service delivery and reduced environmental impact, reinforcing its role as a leader in sustainable hospitality.
