In a move poised to redefine India’s hospitality landscape, global hospitality major Accor and Indian travel conglomerate InterGlobe have announced Gaurav Bhushan as Chairman of their proposed joint venture in India. The venture will integrate the development, operations, and management strengths of both groups into a unified hospitality powerhouse.

More than a routine appointment, Bhushan’s selection signals serious intent. The new entity will exclusively drive the growth of Accor’s brands across India, creating what the companies describe as a “market-leading player” in the region.

Bhushan, a seasoned Accor veteran, currently serves as Co-CEO of Ennismore and CEO of Lifestyle & Leisure Brands at Accor. His portfolio includes overseeing the expansion of Accor’s brand network from 12 to over 45, and facilitating over 500 hotel signings annually. His appointment is expected to inject global insight and high-velocity execution into India’s evolving hospitality space.

A Strategic Power Move

This isn’t the first time Accor and InterGlobe have partnered, but it is arguably their most aggressive consolidation effort to date. The venture aims to maximise operational synergies and streamline growth by creating a single engine for development—particularly vital in India, where branded hotel supply is still catching up with rising demand.

Bhushan’s track record in brand building, international expansion, and lifestyle-led hospitality makes him a strategic fit. His global background, paired with a deep understanding of Indian market nuances, sets the stage for the entity to capture high-growth segments like midscale lifestyle hotels, leisure retreats, and next-gen urban concepts.

A Vote of Confidence in India

For both Accor and InterGlobe, this collaboration reflects renewed confidence in India’s hospitality potential. With economic indicators favouring travel, and both domestic and international tourism on the rise, the platform could accelerate brand presence and deepen guest engagement across segments.

Pending regulatory approvals, the partnership is expected to formalise soon, positioning the new platform as a key player to watch in India’s post-pandemic hospitality surge.
