IHCL Enters Alibaug’s Leisure Scene with Grand Opening of Taj Alibaug Resort & Spa
Luxury and coastal charm collide in Maharashtra’s newest getaway destination.

In a move set to redefine luxury hospitality on India’s western coastline, Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), the country’s largest hospitality group, has officially opened the doors to its newest property—Taj Alibaug Resort & Spa, Maharashtra. With this launch, IHCL steps into the leisure-rich micro-market of Alibaug, intensifying its hold over Mumbai’s premium getaway circuit.
Nestled amid swaying palms and lush tropical greenery, the 156-key seaside sanctuary blends modern sophistication with coastal serenity—a design philosophy that sets it apart in a destination already popular for its scenic beaches and boutique resorts.
But this is more than just another luxury hotel opening. With its natural textures, soft hues, and open courtyards, the resort's design draws deep inspiration from the rhythm of Alibaug’s coast—a deliberate pivot from high-gloss hospitality to immersive placemaking.

Culinary Icons and Holistic Healing
In an increasingly competitive leisure market, Taj Alibaug has pulled a strategic ace with Konkan Café, a coastal specialty restaurant that brings IHCL’s celebrated Mumbai brand to a new audience. Alongside it are Aparanta, an all-day dining space, and 24 Alive, a bar specializing in handcrafted cocktails — all curated to reflect the region’s rich culinary culture.
For those in pursuit of well-being, the J Wellness Circle offers a spectrum of therapies that marry traditional Indian healing practices with contemporary spa treatments—a hallmark of the Taj experience.
Located across the shore, Alibaug has long been a favoured leisure destination for Mumbaikars. The launch of Taj Alibaug Resort & Spa marks IHCL’s debut in this micro-market, further strengthening our presence in Mumbai’s leisure circuit and expanding our brandscape and footprint in Maharashtra.

A Strategic Coastal Bet
This opening is a calculated step in IHCL’s broader strategy to build dominance in leisure destinations easily accessible from urban centres. Alibaug — just a 90-minute drive or ferry ride from Mumbai — has been gaining traction as a premium second-home and weekend escape destination, attracting both domestic travellers and real estate interest.
