The Hotel and Restaurant Association – Western India (HRAWI) conducted the Food Safety Supervisor Training in Advance Catering (FoSTaC), an initiative of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), at The Byke Business – Delotel. The programme was attended by 24 hospitality professionals and focused on critical areas such as food handling, hygiene, sanitation, and waste management.

The training was led by Dr. Pasupathy V., who provided participants with practical insights and operational guidance to help strengthen food safety systems within their establishments and reinforce industry best practices.

Driving Compliance and a Culture of Food Safety

FoSTaC is designed to create a robust pool of certified Food Safety Supervisors (FSS) trained in good hygiene and manufacturing practices, in line with the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration) Regulations, 2011. The programme aims to enhance the availability of skilled manpower in the food sector, promote self-compliance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, and foster a sustained culture of food safety across the country.

By enabling Food Business Operators (FBOs) to better understand and implement hygiene and sanitation requirements, the initiative encourages behavioural change and greater accountability. To date, HRAWI has trained and certified 3,695 hospitality professionals through FoSTaC and FSSAI’s Management Training Programme, reaffirming its commitment to equipping the industry with the knowledge and skills required to uphold the highest food safety standards in daily operations.
