Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) continues to build on its growth momentum, recording 47 hotel signings and 20 openings in the first half of FY2027. The expansion takes its overall portfolio to 670 hotels, including a pipeline of 280 properties, reinforcing its position among India's leading hospitality groups.

With 390 operational hotels, the company is progressing towards its Accelerate 2030 target of a 700-hotel portfolio, a milestone it now expects to achieve ahead of schedule.

A Diversified Strategy Driving Scale

Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President–Real Estate & Development, IHCL, attributed the momentum to the company’s diversified strategy across brands, markets and contract structures. “With a strong momentum of 47 signings and 20 openings in H1 FY2027, IHCL is on track to achieve its guidance under Accelerate 2030 of a 700-hotel portfolio ahead of time,” she said.

The strategy positions IHCL to pursue scale while maintaining a balance between capital-intensive assets and asset-light expansion.

With a portfolio spanning ten brands, IHCL continues to address India’s diverse hospitality landscape through differentiated offerings across luxury, leisure and mid-scale accommodation. The first-half signings included four Taj hotels, alongside properties under the Brij and Atmantan brands, strengthening the group's luxury and experiential hospitality portfolio.

At the same time, 19 signings across Ginger and Tree of Life reflect its focus on expanding its presence in the mid-scale and leisure segments, where evolving traveller preferences and demand from emerging markets are creating opportunities for growth.

The Road to Accelerate 2030

IHCL expanded its presence in established hospitality markets including Mumbai, Gurugram, Goa and Hyderabad, while entering destinations such as Kandla, Ayodhya, Tadoba, Kota, Bokaro and Jorhat. These openings reflect the growing importance of emerging destinations within India's hospitality development landscape, as hotel companies look beyond traditional metropolitan markets for new opportunities.

Internationally, the group strengthened Taj’s footprint with openings in Frankfurt, Germany, and Kruger, South Africa, extending the brand's presence across key global markets.

IHCL’s first-half performance signals a continued emphasis on portfolio diversification, geographic expansion and operational scale. With its development pipeline accounting for more than 40% of its total portfolio, the company has a substantial base of future hotel openings.

As IHCL approaches its 700-hotel milestone, the focus remains on translating an expanding development pipeline into operational growth, while strengthening its position across India's evolving hospitality landscape.
