MakeMyTrip has partnered with the Ministry of Tourism to bring more than 350 guided tours across 60+ Indian cities onto its platform, making them bookable from August 15.

Aligned with the government’s ‘Incredible India’ and ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiatives, the partnership aims to make local, cultural and heritage experiences easier to discover and book while expanding the digital reach of guides and local experts.

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Tourism & Culture, said, “Our guides, local experts and communities are the backbone of India's tourism value chain. This partnership gives them an opportunity to reach travellers directly and share India's stories.”

Rajesh Magow, Executive Director & Group CEO, MakeMyTrip, said, “India has never been short of stories worth telling. What has been missing is a way for travellers to discover and book them as easily as they book a flight or a hotel. Partnering with the Ministry of Tourism to inspire travellers towards these guided tours puts our guides and local experts at the centre of it. It also offers a broader opportunity to showcase these experiences through curated and user-generated content, delivering an authentic end-to-end journey for travellers.”

Guided experiences go digital

Starting at INR 500, the catalogue spans walking, cycling, vehicle-based and multi-day experiences. Offerings include tea tasting in Palampur, heritage experiences in Agra, cultural walks in Kolkata and Goa, artisan-led block printing in Jaipur, spiritual experiences in Varanasi and cycling tours in Goa.

The initiative addresses a key gap in the domestic tourism market, where guided experiences have traditionally depended on on-arrival discovery, word of mouth and fragmented booking channels.

The initiative forms part of MakeMyTrip’s tours and attractions business, which is building a broader inventory of museums, heritage walks, treks, safaris and cultural attractions across India.

The collaboration signals a broader push to formalise and digitise India’s fragmented experiences market, while encouraging domestic travellers to engage more deeply with local culture, heritage and communities.
