At Fairmont Mumbai, Conscious Luxury Takes Center Stage
Fairmont Mumbai graciously extended its signature hospitality to the SOH Team to discover a destination where sophistication, innovation, and emotion come together in perfect harmony.

There are hotels that offer comfort. And then, there’s Fairmont Mumbai—a place where every corridor hums with emotion, where architecture whispers stories of timeless elegance, and where sustainability isn’t a trend, but a heartbeat. When the SOH Team was invited to experience this 446-key marvel firsthand, we weren’t prepared to be moved. But moved we were—deeply and definitively.
Nestled near Mumbai’s international airport, the art-deco inspired marvel owned by Nitan Chhatwal, Chairman and Managing Director of the Shrem Group, doesn’t merely greet you—it enfolds you. The bustle of the city blurs at the gates. Inside, it’s a quiet symphony of style and innovation, where urban energy is softened by thoughtful design and hospitality with heart.

Architecture That Breathes and Whispers
If the hotel interiors are a conversation, the exteriors are a hymn. The facade, clad in Portuguese limestone, evokes European grace, but it’s what lies beneath that stuns: 9,000 German-engineered springs, silently working to eliminate every vibration from the metro lines below. That means real silence. The kind that makes sleep restorative, and presence absolute.
“We didn’t just want it to be iconic,” explains Rajiv Kapoor, General Manager, Fairmont Mumbai. “We wanted it to be remembered—for what it stood for and how it made you feel.” He pauses, then adds, “It breathes. And because it breathes, our guests do too.”
Inside, air quality is pristine, consistently under AQI 50—an almost utopian feat in Mumbai. Add to that UV air purification, paperless check-ins, and fully electric kitchens, and you begin to understand the scale of the vision here. Sustainability isn’t an initiative—it’s an identity.

The Suite Life & Skyline Dreams
Upstairs, the 48 suites have less accommodation and more sanctuary. Whether it’s a romantic suite with twin showers or a sprawling Presidential Suite with runway views, every detail signs of opulence. Bulletproof, soundproof glass ensures both safety and serenity.
Private butler service? Check. Mercedes transfers? Naturally. Gold Lounge access? Absolutely.
And oh, the Gold Lounge—a 1920s-inspired haven for those arriving early or leaving late, with curated high-teas, finger food, and pampering amenities for the modern globetrotter.
“For high-net-worth travellers, it’s about privacy, pace, and personalisation,” Kapoor shares. And they’ve nailed it.

A Homage to Nostalgia and Nature
Our first encounter with the hotel’s philosophy happened at Madeleine de Proust, the ethereal tea lounge named after the French literary phrase evoking involuntary memories. Sunlight filters through handcrafted trees, the scent of warm madeleines lingers in the air, and conversations take precedence over screens.
“We wanted to bring back the soul of human connection,” says Kapoor, with the warmth of someone who still believes in the romance of real talk. “This is our ode to slower moments, to gentle afternoons and the joy of remembering.”
It’s not just a lounge—it’s an emotion. A soft-spoken sanctuary where time meanders and nostalgia finds its flavour.

Flavours That Dance, Dazzle, and Delight
Step into Oryn, and you're not just dining—you’re stepping into a Shanghai theatre of the senses. Velvet curtains, DJ-led energy, dramatic lighting, even kung fu performances—it’s surreal, seductive, and entirely unforgettable.
This is their stage, and every guest is a part of the show.
But the spectacle doesn't end there. The Merchants, their 24-hour dining space, is a jubilant homage to Mumbai’s dabbawallas and intrepid explorers. Think six live kitchens, eleven iterations of menus, and an atmosphere buzzing with global flavours and local soul.
Chef Prasad Metrani and Chef Kaustubh don’t just plate food—they sculpt memories. Take the Textures of Pumpkin, a poetic vegan dish, or the Donguri Sushi, a Mumbai-Japan fusion that somehow feels like home. Every dish has a backstory. Every ingredient, a spotlight.
And then there’s the chocolate atelier. Yes, a live chocolate studio—where hand-tempered, Callebaut masterpieces are crafted without shortcuts, without molds, and with a whole lot of love.

Oryn is a mood, a moment, a masterpiece.
Cocktails That Tell Stories
The Hedonis Bar & Lounge cocktail menu reads like a travelogue written by a dreamer. One sip of “Chasing Aurora”, a luminous concoction of gin, green apple, and edible gold, and you’re whisked to Nordic skies. No sugar. No gimmicks. Just liquid storytelling.
“Our cocktails are mood, place, and poetry in a glass,” tells the head mixologist. And he’s right. You don’t just drink here—you feel.

Raise your glass to nights that never end — Hedonist is calling.
Where Celebrations Soar
Luxury here isn’t confined to rooms or restaurants—it spills into celebration spaces that stretch the imagination. With over 75,000 sq. ft. of banquet areas, including a 21,000 sq. ft. ballroom fitted with aerial rigging, thrust stages, and a whopping 750kB UPS system, Fairmont Mumbai is ready for anything—weddings, car launches, couture shows.
No diesel generators. No vendor limitations. Just limitless possibility with a sustainable conscience.
“We want weekdays to whisper luxury, and weekends to roar with celebration,” exclaims Kapoor. And somehow, it all works in perfect harmony.

Wellness Beyond Skin-Deep
Wellness isn’t a trend at Fairmont Mumbai—it’s a calling. The Longevity Spa, Mumbai’s first luxury wellness space of its kind, combines ancient wisdom with modern biohacking. The longevity spa blends modern practices with timeless traditions that activate the body’s innate healing intelligence.
The BluXone indulges you in age-defying therapies and wellness rituals— Cryotherapy, Hyper Baric Therapy, Intermittent Vacuum Therapy, Red Light Therapy—to activate your body’s self-healing capabilities.
It’s where skincare meets soulcare, and your body feels not just pampered, but reborn.

Rejuvenation isn’t a luxury — it’s a lifestyle at Longevity Spa.
A Hotel With A Soul
At its heart, Fairmont Mumbai is a canvas where every brushstroke tells a story—from the pastry that brings back childhood memories to the cocktail that chases the Northern Lights. It’s a hotel with a soul, and a stage. A rare place where sustainability, style, and sentiment hold hands.
Luxury isn’t about excess anymore—it’s about intention. And Fairmont Mumbai is intentional about every square foot, every plate, every guest interaction.
We came expecting five-star service. We left with something deeper: a connection. A memory. A moment. And isn’t that what travel is all about?
