Soneva Group Strengthens Executive Ranks with Key Appointments
Soneva Group’s new leadership appointments coincide with the landmark opening of its global headquarters in Dubai, enhancing industry partnerships, attracting top-tier talent, and strengthening connections with key feeder markets.

Soneva Group has announced the appointment of three senior executives to its leadership team, effective September 2025. Joanna Flint joins as Chief Commercial Officer, Chris Whitehouse as Chief Financial Officer, and Abhishek Sharma has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer.
Joanna Flint: Driving Global Commercial Strategy
Joanna Flint brings over 20 years of leadership experience across luxury hospitality and technology, with notable tenures at Mandarin Oriental, Google, and Singapore Airlines. Her expertise in global commercial strategy is expected to accelerate Soneva’s sales, data, digital, and go-to-market capabilities, while further elevating brand presence and the customer experience in both existing and new markets.
Chris Whitehouse: Strengthening Financial Foundations
Chris Whitehouse joins as Chief Financial Officer, bringing deep experience in financial strategy, risk management, corporate financing, and asset management. His prior roles at The Dot Group, Candy & Candy, and CPC—renowned names in luxury real estate and large-scale student accommodation—position him to play a pivotal role in supporting Soneva’s sustainable growth and financial stability.
Abhishek Sharma: Championing Operational Excellence
Soneva also announces the promotion of Abhishek Sharma to Chief Operating Officer. With over 25 years of experience in luxury hospitality across the Maldives, India, Egypt, and Mauritius, Sharma has successfully overseen operations at all three Soneva resorts as Group General Manager. His tenure has been marked by service excellence and meticulously crafted guest experiences, underpinned by attention to detail and operational rigour.
