Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced the opening of Tree of Life Himalaya, Hartola, a boutique retreat in Uttarakhand set at an altitude of nearly 7,000 feet. Surrounded by ancient oak forests, fruit orchards and a natural water spring, the retreat offers panoramic views of the Trishul and Nanda Devi peaks.

The property reflects the growing appeal of slow travel, combining the tranquillity of the Himalayan landscape with authentic local experiences and a strong connection to the destination.

The Rise of Slow Travel

Deepika Rao, Executive Vice President – Select Service Business, IHCL, said, “With slow travel evolving as a travel trend, demand for destinations that offer authentic, nature-led experiences is on the rise. Hartola, with its rich local culture and untouched landscape, reflects this shift in traveller preferences. Tree of Life Himalaya celebrates the character of the destination and offers guests a peaceful escape immersed in nature.”

Designed in the region’s traditional mountain architectural style, Tree of Life Himalaya features six rooms that combine contemporary comforts with natural materials and local influences. Wooden interiors, natural stone finishes and expansive windows create a warm, understated aesthetic while opening up views of the surrounding forests and mountains.

The retreat’s Sequoia Café complements the setting with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients and regional flavours, offering guests a dining experience rooted in the local landscape.
