Strengthening its presence in Tamil Nadu, the Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed a new Taj hotel on East Coast Road in Chennai, strategically positioned to meet rising demand from both leisure travelers and the MICE segment.

The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a new Taj hotel on East Coast Road (ECR) in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. This greenfield development marks another milestone in IHCL’s ongoing growth strategy in South India, strengthening its presence in one of the country’s most dynamic hospitality markets.
Project Overview
Set across 13 acres of pristine beachfront land, the upcoming Taj ECR Chennai will feature 151 rooms offering direct views of the Bay of Bengal. The property is designed to provide a seamless blend of leisure and business experiences, catering to both individual travelers and large groups.
World-Class Facilities
The resort will offer a range of dining and lifestyle experiences, including an all-day dining restaurant, two specialty restaurants, and a bar. Wellness and recreation will be integral to the guest experience, featuring Taj’s signature J Wellness Circle, a state-of-the-art gym, a swimming pool, and other premium amenities.
Positioned as a destination for large-scale events and conventions, the hotel will include two expansive banquet venues of approximately 10,000 and 5,300 square feet, along with multiple meeting rooms and sprawling beachfront lawns, making it ideal for weddings, conferences, and MICE events.
