The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, is set to make a striking mark in the high-altitude haven of McLeodganj. In a move that sharpens its leisure portfolio in Himachal Pradesh, IHCL today announced the signing of a 65-key Gateway hotel in this spiritual and scenic retreat. The new property is a brownfield project in partnership with Mcleo Times Square.

For the Gateway brand—IHCL’s full-service offering aimed at delivering immersive local experiences—this expansion signals a stronger foothold in experiential and nature-led travel. McLeodganj, home to monasteries, bustling local bazaars, and world-renowned trekking trails, remains a magnet for a diverse traveller profile—from spiritual tourists to global nomads.
With this signing, IHCL’s Himachal Pradesh portfolio rises to 13 hotels—of which eight are currently under development. The McLeodganj announcement follows a steady cadence of strategic growth in underpenetrated yet culturally rich tier-II leisure markets.
