HG Hotels & Resorts is taking its Garner brand to Ahmedabad, signing a franchise agreement for the 40-key Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera. Scheduled to open in 2029, the hotel will be developed by Devpriya Buildcon and managed by United Hospitality Management (UHM) India, one of IHG’s established third-party hotel management partners in the country.
The signing comes at a time when Ahmedabad is steadily strengthening its position as a commercial, infrastructure and business hub. For IHG, the project represents more than an addition to its Indian portfolio; it is a strategic entry for Garner, its global fastest-scaling brand designed around a straightforward proposition: delivering dependable, comfortable stays at an accessible price point.
The brand focuses on what matters most to value-conscious travellers while giving hotel owners access to IHG’s established operating systems, quality standards and global loyalty ecosystem. For Ahmedabad, that proposition aligns closely with the city’s expanding base of business travellers, infrastructure-driven visitors and domestic leisure demand.
Located at the Motera-Sabarmati junction in North Ahmedabad, Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera will be positioned close to some of the area’s most significant demand generators, including the Narendra Modi Stadium, the Sabarmati Bullet Train hub and surrounding corporate districts.
A Strategic Partnership
The project also deepens the relationship between IHG and UHM India, as both companies continue to expand branded hospitality offerings across India. UHM brings local operating expertise and owner-focused management capabilities to the partnership, supporting IHG’s growth across emerging and established markets.
Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, sees Ahmedabad’s evolving infrastructure and commercial ecosystem as a strong foundation for the new property. “Ahmedabad continues to emerge as an important commercial and infrastructure growth centre, supported by strong economic activity and expanding connectivity. Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera is a meaningful addition to our India growth strategy and reflects the appeal of the brand’s model for high-potential markets.”
He added that the signing reinforces IHG’s focus on delivering quality and reliable accommodation for today’s increasingly value-conscious traveller.
For UHM India, the Motera project represents another step in an expanding collaboration with IHG. Deepika Arora, Managing Director, United Hospitality Management–India, said the company’s growing portfolio with IHG reflects owner confidence in the strength of its brands and UHM’s local operating capabilities. “Each new signing reflects the confidence that owners place in the combined strength of IHG’s globally recognised brands and UHM’s local operating expertise.”
Arora added that UHM’s focus will remain on operational excellence, long-term asset performance and creating memorable guest experiences as the partnership expands across India.

Designed for a Mixed-Use Ecosystem
Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera will feature 40 modern rooms, with the design focused on comfort, practicality and functionality. The hotel will form part of a larger mixed-use development incorporating retail, banquet and restaurant facilities, alongside a hospital. The integrated development is expected to create a broader ecosystem for both hotel guests and the surrounding community.
For developer Devpriya Buildcon, the project is closely aligned with Ahmedabad’s transformation and growing visitor economy. Prashant Thakkar, Partner, Devpriya Buildcon, said: “Ahmedabad’s economic growth, infrastructure development and rising visitor demand make it an attractive market for branded hospitality. Partnering with IHG Hotels & Resorts and United Hospitality Management to introduce Garner in Motera aligns with our vision of developing future-ready assets for modern travellers.”

Ahmedabad’s Hospitality Opportunity
Ahmedabad has evolved into one of India’s major economic and industrial centres, with established strengths in pharmaceuticals, textiles, information technology, infrastructure and corporate activity.
The city’s expanding transport network and investment in sports infrastructure are also reshaping its hospitality demand. Motera, in particular, has emerged as an important growth corridor following the development of the Narendra Modi Stadium and major transportation infrastructure.
With Garner Hotel Ahmedabad Motera, IHG is extending its brand mix into another segment of the city’s growing hospitality market. IHG, Motera could prove to be an important foothold for Garner as the brand looks to scale further across India.
