IHCL Enters an Underpenetrated Karnataka Micro-Market with Tree of Life Signing

IHCL strengthens its presence in Karnataka with the signing of a Tree of Life Resort in Sakaleshpur.

Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, has announced the signing of a Tree of Life resort in Sakaleshpur, Karnataka, further strengthening its presence in the state’s emerging leisure destinations.

 

Commenting on the development, Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said Sakaleshpur represents a pristine destination that seamlessly blends heritage with plantation landscapes. With tourism gaining momentum as a key economic driver, the region is witnessing rising demand for experiential and boutique accommodations.

 

She noted that the signing marks IHCL’s early entry into an underpenetrated micro-market, positioning the company to cater to discerning travellers seeking immersive leisure experiences. The Tree of Life resort is expected to enhance IHCL’s footprint along the Western Ghats while reinforcing its boutique and experiential hospitality positioning. IHCL has partnered with Mystica Retreats LLP for the project.

Project Overview and Key Features

Located in the heart of the Western Ghats, the 40-key Tree of Life Sakaleshpur is envisioned as a tranquil retreat set amid a forested landscape and complemented by a perennial stream. Designed in line with the Tree of Life brand ethos, the resort will offer an all-day dining restaurant and bar, along with wellness-focused amenities including a swimming pool, treatment room, and dedicated yoga space.

 

The property will also feature thoughtfully curated experiences aimed at guests seeking serenity, wellness, and a deeper connection with nature.

 

Sharanabasava Meti and Kemparaju, Mystica Retreats LLP, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that they look forward to working with IHCL to create a distinctive getaway for travellers seeking a peaceful escape.

Sakaleshpur: An Emerging Leisure Destination

Sakaleshpur, a serene hill station in Karnataka, is gaining prominence for its trekking trails, heritage landmarks, and plantation tourism. Key attractions include Manjarabad Fort, Kaginahare Fort, Bisle Ghat Viewpoint, Jenukal Gudda, and the Kaginahare Forest ruins, making it an appealing destination for experiential travellers.

 

With the addition of this resort, IHCL’s portfolio in Karnataka will expand to 34 hotels, including 19 properties under development, underscoring the company’s continued focus on growth across high-potential leisure and tourism markets in the state.
