Ventive Hospitality has planted more than 10,000 coral fragments across its Maldives resorts under its Holistic Approach to Reef Protection (HARP), reinforcing its commitment to marine conservation and sustainable luxury hospitality.

Ventive Hospitality has achieved a significant sustainability milestone with the planting of more than 10,000 coral fragments across its Maldives properties—Anantara Dhigu Maldives Resort, Anantara Veli Maldives Resort and Naladhu Private Island Maldives—under its Holistic Approach to Reef Protection (HARP) programme.
The achievement coincides with the 25th anniversary of Anantara Hotels & Resorts and highlights Ventive Hospitality's continued investment in protecting and restoring the fragile marine ecosystems that underpin the Maldives' tourism economy.
Restoring Reef Ecosystems
Since its launch in 2017, the HARP programme has supported the growth of over 10,000 corals, contributing to reef resilience and marine biodiversity. Coral reefs sustain nearly a quarter of all marine species despite covering less than one per cent of the ocean floor, making their preservation critical as climate change, rising sea temperatures and human activity continue to threaten reef ecosystems worldwide.

Engaging Guests in Conservation
The HARP programme combines scientific reef restoration with immersive guest participation. Visitors can adopt and plant coral fragments, join guided marine experiences and take part in educational programmes that deepen awareness of reef conservation.
Oriana Migliaccio, Marine Biologist at Anantara Dhigu, Anantara Veli and Naladhu Private Island Maldives, said the programme's impact extends well beyond the number of corals planted. “Coral restoration is long-term work. Every fragment must be carefully monitored as it grows into a functioning reef. Beyond restoration, the programme creates habitats for marine life while enabling guests to develop a personal connection with reef conservation.”
