The award recognises the resort’s consistent and measurable efforts in environmental protection, resource efficiency, and responsible operations. Taj Wayanad Resort & Spa emerged as the highest-ranked property in its category.
Setting Benchmarks in Hospitality
The resort has implemented a comprehensive sustainability framework encompassing waste, water, energy, and community initiatives. Key measures include a zero-plastic policy supported by an in-house glass water bottling plant, decomposable guest amenities, and wooden key cards. Energy efficiency is driven through solar power installations and electric mobility solutions, while water stewardship is ensured under a zero-discharge model, with 100 per cent reuse of treated water.
Waste management practices include organic composting and scientific segregation of hazardous waste. Beyond operations, the resort actively engages with local communities through tree plantation programmes, flood relief initiatives, and support for tribal schools and Anganwadis, reinforcing its social responsibility commitments.
Strengthening the Luxury–Sustainability Equation

By aligning premium guest experiences with sustainable practices, the resort continues to set industry benchmarks and contribute to the evolving narrative of responsible tourism in India.
