Delhi Hosts ‘Festival of Arunachal 2026’: A Two-Day Cultural and Tourism Showcase

Department of Tourism, Arunachal Pradesh hosted “Festival of Arunachal 2026” in Delhi.

The vibrant cultural tapestry of Arunachal Pradesh came alive in the national capital during the ‘Festival of Arunachal 2026’, organized by the Department of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, with the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. This two-day cultural and tourism showcase highlighted the state’s rich heritage, indigenous traditions, performing arts, textiles, handicrafts, cuisine, and emerging tourism experiences. The festival provided a unique platform that brought together artisans, cultural troupes, performers, influencers, dignitaries, and visitors for an immersive engagement with Arunachal Pradesh’s living heritage.

 

The festival aimed to promote awareness of the state’s diverse culture among policymakers, tourism stakeholders, and urban audiences while fostering sustainable and responsible tourism practices. Exhibitions offered visitors an authentic experience of Arunachal Pradesh’s cultural and tourism offerings. Artisans from across the state showcased traditional handlooms, indigenous textiles, handcrafted bamboo and cane products, tribal jewellery, and artefacts, alongside organic produce and local products. Culinary experiences featured authentic Arunachali cuisine prepared using region-specific herbs and ingredients, offering a true taste of the state’s gastronomic traditions.

 

A major highlight of the festival was the Traditional Yak Dance, which represents the high-altitude Himalayan culture of Arunachal Pradesh and reflects the close relationship between local communities and their natural environment.

Arunachal Pradesh: A Unique Destination

The festival also underscored the state’s unique identity as the “Land of the Rising Sun,” home to over 26 major tribes and more than 100 sub-tribes, each contributing to its rich and diverse cultural landscape. With vast forest cover, extraordinary biodiversity, and growing adventure and eco-tourism opportunities, Arunachal Pradesh continues to emerge as a sought-after destination for experiential travel.

 

The event was graced by Shri Pasang Dorjee Sona, Minister of Education, Tourism, Rural Works, Libraries and Parliamentary Affairs, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, along with dignitaries from the Ministry of Tourism and invited guests. By hosting the festival in New Delhi, the organisers successfully highlighted the state’s cultural and tourism potential, strengthened engagement with key stakeholders, and promoted Arunachal Pradesh as a vibrant and sustainable tourism destination.
