Ghaziabad Finds Its Place on the Branded Hospitality Map
Courtyard by Marriott’s first Ghaziabad property, also the first branded hotel in the region, brings a polished stay, serious event spaces and a distinctly local food story to one of NCR’s fastest-changing corridors.

Ghaziabad has rarely been the first name that comes to mind when one thinks of a luxury hotel stay in the NCR, but that impression might be changing. With new infrastructure, a growing commercial landscape and increasingly fluid movement between Delhi, Noida and western Uttar Pradesh, the city is developing its own hospitality identity.
Recently, I checked into Courtyard by Marriott Ghaziabad on a busy Monday, curious to see whether a hotel in Rajnagar Extension could work as more than simply a convenient business address. The answer, I found, lies in its ability to straddle several worlds: corporate travel during the week, celebrations and events at the weekend, and a growing local clientele looking for somewhere comfortable to meet, dine or simply spend an evening.

The rooms are comfortable and thoughtfully designed for a solo traveller.

A new stay story takes shape
The newly operational 106-key property is the first branded hotel of its kind in this emerging micro-market, and its positioning is interesting precisely because it does not rely on being a traditional city-centre luxury retreat. Instead, it responds to the way NCR itself is expanding.
My Deluxe Suite was comfortable and thoughtfully designed for a solo traveller, with premium bedding, contemporary amenities and an ergonomic workspace. The familiar Courtyard aesthetic softened by artwork inspired by local monuments, added a subtle connection with their surroundings. For me, the bathtub was an especially welcome detail after a long day, a small luxury that made the room feel more like a place to unwind than simply a business stopover.
Rather than depending entirely on business travellers, the property is attempting to build a healthy mix of corporate stays, MICE, weddings, social occasions and leisure. It gives the hotel a broader role within the neighbourhood. The hotel’s event proposition is substantial for a property in this location, with more than 8,000 square feet of flexible event areas, including a 5,100-square-foot Grand Ballroom supported by audiovisual technology and dedicated event planning services.
We met Praveen Sharma, Hotel Manager at Courtyard by Marriott Ghaziabad, who has over 26 years of industry experience and sees this as an opportunity to put Ghaziabad more firmly on the NCR events map. He informs, “We see Ghaziabad becoming an increasingly viable option for events that traditionally may have looked towards other parts of NCR. Rather than viewing this as a direct shift away from Delhi or Noida, we see an opportunity to add another strong destination to the NCR event landscape. Our event infrastructure has been designed with that opportunity in mind. This allows us to cater to corporate conferences and board meetings as well as weddings and social celebrations.”

A menu rooted in the region
Food is perhaps where the hotel makes its strongest attempt to establish a sense of place. At L3 Kitchen, the all-day dining restaurant, Indian, Italian and Oriental dishes share the menu, but it is the regional offerings that caught my attention. The menu includes the Hindon Bowl, Noor-e-Kebab and Courtyard Signature Dal alongside pizzas, pastas, risottos, dim sum, wok-fried rice and Thai curries. There is also a distinctly Uttar Pradesh-inspired thread running through the food, which feels more relevant here than an overly internationalised hotel menu.
Executive Chef Balwant Singh Sajwan, who has nearly two decades of culinary experience, has placed local flavours at the centre of that proposition. Chef Sajwan mentions, “The hotel is very popular with travellers and groups that love Indian food, especially the highway style preparations that are packed with seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers. Our UP 14 special thaali is one of the popular items in the menu; we also have unique local preparations like Highway special chicken curry, Dasna Hariyali Murgh Tikka, Ram Ladoo Chaat, Bhutta and Vatana Ki Shami, and Muradabadi Soya Chaap. We also have a pan-Asian and continental spread for our buffets and dinner at the L3 Kitchen.”
The regional focus gives the dining experience a personality of its own. For something more informal, Yard & Brew provides a café-bar setting suited to casual meetings, networking or an evening drink. The combination of the two dining spaces gives the property enough flexibility to move between business lunch, family gathering and after-hours socialising without feeling overly formal.

Sustainability beyond the surface
Sustainability here is more operational than ornamental. The property uses a Building Management System to regulate energy consumption, LED lighting throughout the hotel and motion sensors in selected public areas. An in-house water treatment and bottling plant reduces dependence on external packaging, with glass bottles used predominantly across the property. Local sourcing is another part of the approach, helping the hotel work with fresher produce while reducing transportation-related emissions.
As Sharma explains, “For us, sustainability is less about one standalone initiative and more about making responsible choices across the hotel’s daily operations, from the air we circulate and energy we consume to the water we serve and the produce we source. We also have a treated fresh air system across the property, which treats the air before it is circulated through the hotel’s AC and air circulation systems, supporting a comfortable indoor environment for our guests.”

Positioned for the new business traveller
The hotel’s appeal is less about grand luxury and more about making a new geography of travel feel effortless. The outdoor pool, fitness centre and spa provide the expected avenues for downtime, while the rooms are geared towards travellers who may need to work as much as they need to rest. The property feels particularly suited to the emerging bleisure traveller, for instance someone who may have meetings in Ghaziabad or Meerut but does not necessarily want the evening to end when the workday does.
Sharma sees the hotel’s role extending into that local ecosystem, and remarks, “Ghaziabad is evolving rapidly, and we see our role as growing alongside that evolution. We see Ghaziabad becoming an increasingly viable option for events that traditionally may have looked towards other parts of NCR. Rather than viewing this as a direct shift away from Delhi or Noida, we see an opportunity to add another strong destination to the NCR event landscape.”

Best ways to reach
The hotel’s location is another practical advantage with Guldhar RRTS station around two kilometres away, while Anand Vihar is approximately 15–20 minutes away and Ghaziabad Railway Station around 20 minutes, depending on traffic. IGI Airport is roughly an hour away. More importantly, the Delhi–Meerut RRTS has changed the way Ghaziabad connects with the larger NCR, making the idea of staying here while working across Delhi, Noida or Meerut increasingly plausible.
For a weekday traveller, that connectivity may ultimately prove to be one of the property’s strongest selling points. What makes Courtyard by Marriott Ghaziabad interesting is not an attempt to compete with Delhi’s established luxury hotels on their own terms, but recognising that the NCR traveller is becoming more mobile and wants a peaceful stay without wasting time on commute.
