Large-scale weddings, international conferences, and landmark events significantly increase labour movement across hospitality properties. During peak periods, hundreds of skilled workers operate on-site, adding to operational intensity. Yet traditionally, these teams have worked long hours with limited access to basic amenities such as clean dining spaces, washrooms, and areas to rest—highlighting a long-standing gap in event infrastructure.
Recognising the essential role of this often-invisible workforce, Taj Cidade de Goa has taken a progressive and humane step by creating a dedicated Crew Area for event support staff. Designed to uphold dignity and comfort, the space allows teams to dine respectfully, access clean drinking water, use hygienic washroom facilities, and rest between long shifts during large-scale functions.
The newly created Crew Area is clean, well-lit, and organised, offering a structured environment where support staff can recharge during demanding workdays. Beyond seating and meals, the initiative prioritises access to safe drinking water and well-maintained washrooms that are easily accessible—ensuring that basic human needs are met without compromise or discomfort.
Redefining True Hospitality
Speaking on the initiative, Ranjit Phillipose, Senior Vice President – Operations, IHCL Goa, shared: “True hospitality is defined by how we treat people. The teams working behind the scenes are integral to the success of every event, and it was important for us to ensure they are supported with dignity and respect. Being able to initiate this change and create a meaningful, positive impact on their everyday experience is something we genuinely value and want to pioneer.”
The initiative has been warmly received by the event management community. Jerry Pinto, CEO of Buzz Events, a leading event management organisation in Goa, said: “It is indeed encouraging to see what Taj Cidade de Goa has created for vendors’ staff and labour at the Crew Area. Being able to have meals in a cleaner and healthier environment, with access to clean drinking water and washrooms, and to do so with dignity, truly adds to the festive spirit.”

A Cultural Shift
This move reflects a deeper philosophy that hospitality extends beyond the guest experience to everyone who contributes to creating it. By ensuring dignity, safety, and comfort for event support personnel, Taj Cidade de Goa reinforces a culture of inclusion and empathy within the hospitality ecosystem.
In an industry known for grandeur, Taj Cidade de Goa’s approach stands out for its humanity. It acknowledges that the success of any large function is built not only on chandeliers and centrepieces, but on the hands that lift, install, manage, and execute every detail.
As the hospitality sector evolves, initiatives like this set new benchmarks for responsible luxury. At Taj Cidade de Goa, dignity is not reserved for the stage—it is extended behind the scenes, where it matters just as much, and perhaps even more.
