Heritage Restoration Meets Luxury Hospitality
Set against the backdrop of the snow-capped Dhauladhar mountain range, Taj Dharamshala will offer sweeping valley views and a hospitality experience inspired by the region’s heritage and landscape.
A key highlight of the project is the restoration of the property’s historic wing, formerly known as White Haven Estate, which served as the Viceroy’s summer residence during the late 19th century. The restoration aims to preserve the estate’s architectural legacy while integrating it into a contemporary luxury hospitality offering.
The hotel will feature an all-day dining restaurant, two specialty restaurants, a bar and a lobby lounge. Wellness and recreation facilities will include an indoor temperature-controlled swimming pool, a fitness centre and IHCL’s signature J Wellness Circle spa.
For meetings, weddings and social events, the property will offer a banquet hall, terrace venues, pre-function areas and dedicated meeting rooms.
Partnership to Boost Local Tourism
The project is being developed in partnership with Atman Resort & Cottages LLP.
Speaking on the collaboration, Sahil Sharma, Sadhna Sharma and Mrinal Sneh Singh, Partners at Atman Resort & Cottages LLP, said, “We are pleased to partner with IHCL to revive this heritage property. The hotel will contribute to the destination’s tourism and create new opportunities for the local community.”
Nestled in the foothills of the Dhauladhar range, Dharamshala is one of North India’s most sought-after mountain destinations. Known for its spiritual significance as the residence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the town is home to landmarks such as the Namgyal Monastery, Bhagsu Waterfall, Dal Lake and Triund, a popular trekking route that attracts adventure seekers from across the country.
With the addition of Taj Dharamshala, IHCL is poised to further elevate the destination’s luxury hospitality landscape while preserving an important piece of its heritage.
