IHCL Signs 125-Key Gateway Hotel in Sambalpur, Odisha
The greenfield project will expand IHCL’s presence in Odisha, targeting growing business, MICE, wedding and leisure demand in the emerging commercial hub.

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of a 125-key Gateway Hotel in Sambalpur, Odisha, in partnership with Shamsher Singh Hura of JAS Group.
The greenfield project will cater to the city’s growing demand for quality hospitality, driven by its expanding industrial and commercial ecosystem.
The hotel will feature an all-day dining restaurant, speciality restaurant and bar, along with a fully equipped gym and swimming pool. Its events infrastructure will include over 10,000 sq. ft. of banquet space and multiple meeting rooms, positioning the property to serve conferences, weddings and social events.
Hospitality Demand on the Rise
Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President–Real Estate & Development, IHCL, said, ”The re-imagined Gateway brand’s focus on authentic local experiences and contemporary comfort is well suited to emerging markets such as Sambalpur.”
She added that the city has evolved into an important business and economic hub in Odisha, supported by a growing industrial base and increasing demand for business travel, conferences, weddings and social events.

He said the upcoming Gateway aims to combine contemporary hospitality with the heritage and distinctive character of Western Odisha, serving both business and leisure travellers.
Located on the banks of the Mahanadi River, Sambalpur is an important cultural, educational and industrial centre in Odisha. The city is known for its historic temples and proximity to the Hirakud Dam, while its economic base includes leading educational institutions and the headquarters of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited.
