BWH Hotels, the US-headquartered hospitality group behind Best Western, has announced a major brand transformation, bringing its portfolio of over 4,000 hotels across 100 countries under WorldHotels as its new global masterbrand.

The restructuring consolidates 18 hospitality brands, loyalty programmes and digital platforms into a unified ecosystem while allowing individual hotels to retain their existing identities.

The move signals a strategic repositioning beyond the group's traditional Best Western identity, aimed at strengthening global brand recognition, simplifying distribution and improving commercial opportunities for independently owned hotels.

A Unified Global Identity

The transformation follows consumer research indicating limited awareness of the group's wider portfolio, which spans luxury, boutique, upscale, extended-stay and economy segments.

Larry Cuculic, President and CEO of WorldHotels, said: "We have a hotel for practically every type of trip, but many travellers know only part of our portfolio.”

The new masterbrand strategy is intended to improve portfolio visibility while giving independent hotel owners access to broader international distribution without compromising their individual positioning.

India Portfolio Expands to 60 Hotels

India remains an important growth market for WorldHotels, with 34 operational properties and 26 hotels in the development pipeline. The consolidation is expected to strengthen international visibility for Indian properties while expanding access to global booking channels and loyalty-led demand.

Ranjan Bhattacharya, Chairman, WorldHotels India and South Asia, said: “The transition to WorldHotels marks an important step in that journey, allowing us to build on Best Western’s established foundation while creating greater opportunities for our hotel partners and guests. As India’s hospitality sector enters an exciting phase of growth, WorldHotels reflects our confidence in the country’s potential and our commitment to bringing global standards, wider international reach and distinctive hospitality experiences to the market, while preserving the individuality and local character that make Indian hospitality unique.”

Atul Jain, Chief Operating Officer, WorldHotels India and South Asia, highlighted the commercial opportunity of connecting hotel partners with a larger international customer base and stronger distribution channels while simplifying bookings for Indian travellers.

70 Million Loyalty Members Under One Programme

A central component of the transformation is the launch of WorldHotels Rewards in January 2027, combining Best Western Rewards and the existing WorldHotels Rewards programme.

The unified platform will cover approximately 70 million members globally, offering three membership tiers, member rates, status-matching privileges and non-expiring points.

The importance of loyalty-led demand is already evident in South Asia, where Best Western Rewards contributes approximately 27% of stay revenue across India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

WorldHotels is also developing an integrated website and mobile application to streamline reservations, loyalty management and hotel discovery, supported by destination information and local recommendations.

Meanwhile, its luxury and upscale independent properties will operate under WorldHotels Collection, comprising six brands spanning luxury, lifestyle and residential hospitality.

The restructuring reflects a broader industry shift towards consolidating distribution, technology and loyalty capabilities under stronger global platforms. For WorldHotels, the strategy combines international scale with the independence of individual properties, positioning the group to compete across multiple hospitality segments while accelerating growth in markets such as India.
