TajGVK Hotels & Resorts Limited has officially been renamed Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels Limited, marking a significant transition in the company's three-decade journey in India's luxury hospitality sector. The change, effective October 30, 2026, follows the consolidation of ownership under the GVK-Bhupal promoter family.

Established in 1995 as a joint venture between the GVK-Bhupal family and The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), the company underwent an ownership restructuring in December 2025, when IHCL divested its entire 25.52% stake to the promoter family. The transition brings the joint ownership structure to a close, while preserving the two groups' longstanding operational relationship.

The Ownership Changes, The Taj Experience Remains

The corporate identity may have changed, but the Taj association remains intact. IHCL will continue to operate the company's hotels under the Taj brand through long-term management agreements, ensuring continuity in brand positioning, service standards and guest experience.

Krishna GVK currently owns six operational hotels across Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh and Mumbai, including Taj Krishna, Taj Deccan, Vivanta Begumpet, Taj Club House, Taj Chandigarh and Taj Santacruz.

The company's next growth milestone is the 256-key Taj Yelahanka in Bengaluru, scheduled to open towards the end of November 2026. The property will become its seventh hotel and the first to open under the new corporate identity, following the established ownership and management model.

A New Growth Strategy

Commenting on the transition, Krishna Bhupal, Joint Managing Director, said, “Our new name, Krishna GVK, marks the start of a new chapter for the Company. Our hotels remain Taj.”

He also highlighted the company's minimal net debt and strong balance sheet as key enablers of future expansion through both organic and inorganic opportunities.

Beyond the rebranding, the development reflects a broader shift in India's hospitality investment landscape, where hotel ownership and brand operations increasingly function as distinct but complementary businesses.

For Krishna GVK, the new identity represents greater ownership independence without compromising the strength of an established hospitality partnership.
