Summit Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing of two new boutique properties in North Bengal, reinforcing its presence across the Darjeeling–Siliguri corridor, one of the fastest-growing tourism regions in Eastern India. The additions include Summit Gulma River Resort in Siliguri and Summit Falling Water near Darjeeling, both designed as 30-room boutique developments centered on nature-led and experiential hospitality. The Siliguri property is expected to open on 15 August, while the Darjeeling project is scheduled for early January 2027.
Summit Gulma River Resort, located in the Gulma area of Siliguri, overlooks the Gulma Tea Estate and a riverfront setting. It is being developed as a boutique hospitality destination that combines leisure stays with event-driven demand. The property will feature a mix of standard and studio-style rooms, including kitchenettes suited for extended stays, along with an in-house restaurant and bar, spa, fitness centre, and a banquet hall with a capacity of approximately 150 guests. The positioning is aimed at capturing boutique weddings, social celebrations, and corporate gatherings within the tea garden belt of Siliguri.
Summit Falling Water will be developed at Rangbull, approximately three kilometres before Darjeeling town along the main highway connecting the hill station. Conceived as an offbeat experiential destination, the property draws architectural inspiration from the iconic Fallingwater residence by Frank Lloyd Wright, integrating the built environment with the surrounding natural landscape. Constructed around a natural water stream flowing through the site, the hotel will offer 30 rooms with private balconies overlooking the stream and surrounding hills. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (Toy Train) track runs directly in front of the property, providing guests with views of the heritage train. The hotel will also include a restaurant, coffee shop, spa overlooking the stream, gym, and extensive parking facilities, with seasonal snowfall expected to enhance its winter appeal.

Management Commentary
Sumit Mitruka, Founder of Summit Hotels & Resorts commented: "North Bengal continues to be one of the most compelling tourism regions in Eastern India, with demand driven by leisure travellers, weddings and the growing popularity of experiential hill destinations. With Summit Gulma River Resort in Siliguri and Summit Falling Water near Darjeeling, we are focusing on boutique properties that are deeply connected to their surroundings. Whether it is tea garden landscapes in the plains or a stream flowing through a hill property with views of the toy train, our aim is to create stays where the destination itself becomes the central experience for travellers.”
With these additions, Summit Hotels & Resorts continues to deepen its footprint in the Eastern Himalayan region, maintaining a strategic focus on boutique formats that integrate local landscapes, accessibility, and immersive guest experiences rather than large-scale resort developments.
