Antara Cruises continues to uphold its commitment to preserving the natural beauty of India’s ecologically sensitive destinations. In Bhitarkanika National Park, the company’s catamarans and crew have implemented stringent cleanliness and waste management practices around the Gupti jetty and during all guest excursions.
The Antara team ensures that the entire jetty area—from the entry gate and access stairs to the boarding point—is maintained in pristine condition. Litter such as plastic bottles and wrappers is promptly removed to protect the area’s natural environment. During each cruise, all onboard garbage bins are systematically brought back to land, with waste responsibly disposed of in dustbins installed by the Forest Department.
Active Environmental Engagement
Antara’s naturalists and forest guides extend these efforts beyond the jetty, ensuring that every guest excursion supports the preservation of Bhitarkanika’s delicate ecosystem. During jungle walks, the team actively collects any discarded plastic or waste materials found along the trails and ensures proper disposal in designated bins.
“Bhitarkanika is one of India’s most pristine and biodiverse mangrove ecosystems. Our team takes immense pride in preserving its purity by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and environmental care,” said Vineet Arora, Chief Operating Officer, Antara Cruises. “At Antara, sustainability is not an initiative—it’s an integral part of how we operate and engage with nature.”
