Scarlett House Unveils A Breezier Sequel in the Heart of Juhu
Nestled in the vibrant bustle of Juhu, Scarlett House is built on the belief that spaces should nourish more than just the appetite. This all-day haven invites you to relax, connect, and truly come alive.

When six individuals—each with distinct perspectives but united by a shared passion—came together to create something deeply personal in Mumbai, Scarlett House was born. Much like the colour scarlet evokes warmth, confidence, and comfort, this space embodies all of that and more — perfect for long lunches, late nights, and everything in between.
Founded by Amit and Afsana Verma, hospitality expert Dhaval Udeshi, culinary and lifestyle icon Malaika Arora, creative visionary Malaya Nagpal, and coffee-and-community advocate Arhaan Khan, Scarlett House first opened its doors in a restored 90-year-old Portuguese bungalow in Bandra’s charming Pali Village.
Building on the success of that beloved outpost, the team came together once again to shape a sequel — one that reflects their unique sensibilities and shared desire to offer thoughtful, comforting experiences. This time, Scarlett House finds its home in a repurposed film studio tucked away in a quiet bylane off Juhu Beach. Lighter, breezier, and more expansive in spirit, the new space invites you to ease into its rhythm — whether it’s a lazy morning coffee or an unhurried brunch.
Set within a glasshouse, the design blends sun-drenched patios, arched mirrors, wire-brick walls, an intimate 8-seater cocktail bar, and curated art that subtly nods to Mumbai’s cinematic past. Scarlett House Juhu isn’t just a place — it’s a feeling. One that lingers, long after you’ve left.
Afsana Verma shares, “There’s a certain timelessness to comfort when it’s done right — and we saw an opportunity to build that into a brand with lasting relevance. Scarlett House is just the beginning of a larger vision, one where Indian F&B concepts aren’t just celebrated locally, but are able to travel globally with purpose and pride.”

A Dining Experience That Stands Out
In a city brimming with dining options, Scarlett House fills a rare gap — a space where comfort, creativity, and connection exist in perfect balance. “Scarlett House wasn’t created to chase trends,” say the founders. “It was born out of the gaps we personally felt — the need for warmth in service, soul in food, meaning in drinks, and intention in design.”
The inspiration behind the space was deeply personal: a desire to create a setting that feels like home — warm, welcoming, and layered with character. “We wanted to offer our guests a place where time slows down. Whether it’s a quiet morning, a leisurely meal, or relaxed drinks with friends, the experience should feel effortless,” they explain.
This philosophy runs through every element of Scarlett House, particularly in its culinary and beverage choices — both shaped by the founders’ own experiences and sensibilities.
“Scarlett House feels like an extension of my life — the way I like to eat, the way I host, the energy I seek in a space,” shares Malaika Arora. “Every detail is thoughtfully considered to evoke comfort, warmth, and authenticity. Our menu and cocktails reflect that mindset. They’re a celebration of balance — where health, indulgence, and flavor coexist beautifully.”

Hydration Beverages and Emotion-Led Cocktails
At the heart of Scarlett House — quite literally — is India’s first Hydration Bar, a concept designed for those seeking balance without compromising on flavour or experience. Here, you’ll find flavoured waters, functional coolers, and smoothie-style blends crafted with ingredients that support mood, clarity, gut health, and overall restoration.
Whether you’re after an immune boost, a post-yoga turmeric tonic, or simply a refreshing pick-me-up, there’s something for every mood and moment. It’s a bar that doesn’t revolve around alcohol — but around intention and well-being.
“The Hydration Bar was something I was excited about from the start,” shares Malaika Arora. “It’s playful, purposeful, and reflects how people want to live today — finding balance, without giving up flavour or fun.”
Complementing this philosophy is Scarlett’s emotion-led cocktail program — a menu designed not just to delight the palate, but to evoke feeling. Each cocktail is rooted in a specific emotion — from comfort and strength to nostalgia and even the unnamed complexities of family or longing.
“We wanted to explore a full emotional spectrum,” explains bartender Fay Baretto. “Not just joy or celebration, but quieter emotions too — the ones you bump into occasionally, or don’t yet fully understand but sense coming. Not every cocktail needs to be loud. Sometimes, it just needs to understand you.”
These cocktails are rich in story and crafted with care — often using homemade elements like vermouth or infusions of lapsang tea, pine nuts, and celery. Many feature hyper-local produce and ingredients from Scarlett House’s own retail section, blending seasonal flavours into layered, memorable sips.
From the vibrant fruits in Idyllic (inspired by the bar’s whimsical wallpaper) to the spiced wine and apple warmth of Nostalgia, each drink carries a story that begins from the ground up.
At Scarlett House, cocktails are the true protagonists — and the food menu is thoughtfully curated to complement them. Every dish is designed to elevate the emotional and sensory journey, creating a harmonious dialogue between plate and glass.

A Menu Rooted in Comfort and Nostalgia
The food reflects a sense of ease — there’s an intentional informality in the way dishes are plated and served, much like how you’d eat at home. The menu strikes a delicate balance: indulgent yet grounded, flavourful yet light, always nourishing rather than excessive.
Every dish is ingredient-driven and experience-focused, with comfort and familiarity woven into its core. “From homemade khichdi to gluten-free desserts, and India’s first hydration bar — everything reflects our commitment to offering thoughtful, feel-good choices,” shares Head Chef Amir. “Much of our produce is hyper-local, and the menu draws inspiration from both our travels and everyday memories, often rooted in nostalgia.”
The culinary philosophy here celebrates clean ingredients, simple techniques, and a deeper intention — whether it’s a dish inspired by a childhood favourite or an unexpected combination that brings a familiar feeling.
For first-time visitors, the team recommends a few of their signature creations. “The caramelised onion pasta is a must — it actually came from a happy accident in the kitchen, when leftover caramelised onions were tossed into pasta and became an instant hit,” says Chef Amir. Other highlights include the rich, slow-cooked Malabar curry and their comforting, homestyle khichdi — each beginning in tradition, then elevated with subtle, modern twists.

At Scarlett, it was about creating something that reflects the people around it — what we value, what we crave today. It’s a balance between thoughtful design and real functionality, the vibe of the location, and the needs of the community.

A place you'll love to return to
The interiors are layered with vintage textures and intimate corners, and reflect the founders’ shared love for creating spaces that feel deeply personal. From the sunlit glasshouse café — perfect for slow mornings over coffee — you move into a cosy, living room-like space designed for everything from quiet moments alone to relaxed gatherings with friends. The space is dynamic, shifting gently with the rhythm of the day, always becoming what you need, when you need it.
“My years of building F&B concepts have taught me that every neighbourhood has its own rhythm — and the key is to tune into that,” says Dhaval Udeshi, Founder of Dhaval Udeshi Hospitality. “At Scarlett, it was about creating something that reflects the people around it — what we value, what we crave today. It’s a balance between thoughtful design and real functionality, the vibe of the location, and the needs of the community.”
Malaya Nagpal adds, “In a fast-paced, often impersonal world, we wanted to build a place where time slows down — where guests can simply be, rather than just be seen. Designing for intimacy meant ensuring every corner feels intentional and welcoming, from the texture of the furniture to the way light fills the room. That attention to detail defines the dining experience just as much as the food.”
In essence, Scarlett House invites you to pause — to slow down, recharge, and leave with a quiet sense of inspiration. It isn’t just a place you visit — it’s a place you return to. Time and time again.
